The Honda Odyssey isn't just a spacious minivan with a lot to offer families and those who are constantly on the go. It's also one of the most fuel efficient in its class, with the help of a potent V6 engine. But how does the brand mitigate gas mileage and V6 performance? It's partially thanks to a system called Variable Cylinder Management (VCM).
This system come standard on the Odyssey's engine, and allows for cylinders to be deactivated during cruise to lower gas mileage while maintaining engine performance. When driving at speeds between 30 and 70 mph, the system shifts from six-cylinder mode down to three and four-cylinders, and activates a damper to hamper vibration.
