The next generation of Honda's hydrogen-powered Clarity model is now on display at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan for the 2016 New York International Auto Show. The Clarity Fuel Cell Sedan offers a number of updates over the Clarity FCX that it replaces.
The striking exterior features a sporty front fascia and sleek character lines that complement the vehicle's low and wide aerodynamic body. With the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver assistance technologies, Clarity Fuel Cell offers Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with emergency braking, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM).
Under the hood, the Clarity Fuel Cell sedan is powered by a fuel cell stack that is 60 percent more power dense than its predecessor. This results in a form factor that is 33 percent more compact, approximately the size of a V-6 engine. This allows for more space in the five-passenger, lounge-inspired cabin. A leader in providing the latest in connected car technologies, Honda offers in-cabin smartphone connectivity with support for both major platforms, and app integrations for services such as navigation and streaming audio.
"We're pleased to be able to offer this first look at the U.S. version of the Clarity Fuel Cell sedan in advance of its market arrival later this year," said John Mendel, executive vice president, Automobile Division, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "The Clarity Fuel Cell is the first in an expanding portfolio of advanced electrified vehicles from Honda that will create a new pillar in our product lineup."
The Clarity Fuel Cell Sedan will be on display until April 3.
